irsend is a Max/MSP extension to send IR codes from Max or Max4Live. You need the WinLIRC-Package and a IR(transmitter) hardware. I recommend the IR-Toy from “Dangerous Prototypes”, but I think every transmitter, that is supported by WinLIRC, will do it too. WinLIRC has to run in background, so that irsend can use it.
The irsend extension was not a lot of work, i just copy&paste the code of transmit.exe in a C-Max extension.
IR-Bulb-Remote.amxd ist a Max4Live example device of an Max4Live instrument that play colors of a LED bulb instead of sound. The name of your remote.cfg and the code-Names have to be adapted.

You may already know that you can turn any joystick into a MIDI controller. The best software for Windows for this seems to me to be "Fergo Joystick MIDI". But even such dance mats that can be obtained cheaply from China are just joysticks with standard drivers.
I built a Max4Live device for Ableton Live, with which you can start scenes with the mat and trigger a drum rack:
The range of functions is not very large, it invites you to modify and adapt.
A quick hack for a software version of the HRM: The Sparkfun HRMI is connected directly via USB. This Max4Live device reads the HR data and sets the song tempo accordingly.
1993 brachte Doepfer einen MIDI-Datenhandschuh auf Basis des Nintendo Power-Glove auf den Markt. Bei meinem habe ich die Antenne so modifiziert das sie an einen Mikrofonständer montiert werden konnte. Kraftwerk setzte den Mogli bei Konzerten ein. Der Mogli wurde nicht lange hergestellt, da keine Gloves mehr verfügbar waren. Als Einzelkämpfer kann man mit dem Mogli eigendlich nicht viel anfangen, wenn man Ihn auf hat, schränkt er die Bewegungsfreiheit zu sehr ein. Heute habe ich einen Leap-Motion Controller der das selbe ohne jede zusätzliche Hardware und Behinderung macht, auch die neue Kinect soll Finger auflösen können.
